I just recently got a new figurer at work. I'm at present on Windows vii and running Office Pro 2010.

I'k constantly working in Excel, and sometimes will have a file open for a few hours, and so I'll re-salve to its original location.

On my new machine I take at present encountered a situation three times where I attempt to re-save the file, and I get an mistake saying the file is already in use, and won't let me save to that aforementioned filename. (So far, I take simply encountered this problem with files that are stored on the shared server, but that's where I do nearly of my piece of work.)

For ane file, information technology's been 2 days, and I have tried to go dorsum and delete the old filename, only it won't permit me - saying that the file is in utilize. (I know nobody else is using the file.)

Not certain if this is an Excel problem (mayhap having to do with the autosave characteristic in 2010?) or some kind of Windows networking trouble.

Everyone take any ideas?

Subsequently I had the problem with one particular file, I've tried opening information technology and and then saving it from within Excel and from Explorer. I don't recall how I initially opened the file the offset time there was a problem.

Cheers for the tips. I checked them out, but nothing helped. Information technology looks like others are having the exact aforementioned trouble, just those solutions seem to piece of work for some people.

I'm going to effort restarting my file server subsequently today, to meet if that unlocks the files (which would exist good), but I'd really like to make certain that I don't go on having the trouble.
